Bob Drake Water Pumps
Well,
I got my new Bob Drake water pumps today. Ordered them Sunday May 4th, and they arrived to my door via UPS this afternoon. Will be installing them this week. Can't wait to see how these improved pumps work! Kevin

Re: Bob Drake Water Pumps
I have a set in my 48 and they seem to be working well. Temps went down and they've been doing good for over a year now

Re: Bob Drake Water Pumps
My engine builder installed these pumps on my 59L. I haven't run them yet so I can't comment with personal experience but he said they're really good, and at 100 bucks for a pair it's hard to go wrong.

I haven't got 12 months on mine yet , however no probs doin' fine.
Don't forget to use stainless steel bolts + anti seize.. depending on which car you have good luck at getting the lower hoses on! ; o )

Trick for getting the lower hoses on. Soak them in boiling water for a few minutes. This makes them more pliable to manouvre them into position and allows you to bend them a bit. GB

Re: Bob Drake Water Pumps
Got started on the job tonight. Got the right one off. Not real sure, but looks like a PO may have used a wrong gasket that blocked some of the water flow off.
I removed the old gasket and once I pulled the bottom part off, coolant ran out so that could have been causing some cooling issues before. Kevin

Re: Bob Drake Water Pumps
There is a small hole right beside the bolt inside the pump at the lower hose. This hole can become clogged with sediment and not drain the block just behind the pump. Maybe you disturbed the sediment blockage for the water to drain out. I would make sure that recess behind the small hole behind the pump is clean before reinstalling the pumps.
