Default Model A Roadster on the Lube Rack at the Pellissier Square Garage in 1931

The Pellissier Square Garage located at 828 South Western Avenue in Los Angeles was more that just a common gas station and repair shop. It offered the kind of service that is rare, if not unheard of today, but was not uncommon in big cities in 1931.

The photo above is just one of four of this modern facility that include a Lincoln tow truck, the gas pump island and a good overall shot of the facility that can all be seen on The Old Motor.

What is the deal with the wheels on the roadster. They look like 17 or 18" wheels.

They may be Dayton wheels as were seen on this other Model A in Los Angeles in 1931.

I think it's a 1930 standard dressed up with a later shell

He's really shootin' the juice to the distributor.

Check out the camber on the car to the right.

I think the "A" roadster has a stone guard on the front of the radiator shell. If you look at it hard enough you can just barely make out a mesh
pattern. With maybe some clamps on the headlight bar that were used for the stone guard mounting?!? The car on the right up on the rack might be a '26/'27 Cadillac?

I was thinking the same thing, and that's why I made the comment about shootin the juice to the distributor. I guess if the grease gun has a long hose on it, then he might be greasing the water pump.

I agree, he's gotta be going for the water pump.

I think you're right about the stone guard and that's what makes it look like it has the 31 shell with the top insert. I kept looking at the emblem and thinking it looked too big and now quite right as far as the oval shape.
