WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Found this on Craigslist in Phoenix. Tudor becomes "wall art"; guy is asking $2100 for it. I guess it's the perfect gift for the restorer who says, "I have half a mind to restore an old car."

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Was there a divorce in this car's past? If so, then the other person got the "A" that is all right!
Seriously, what is the real story behind it? |

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
This is the half he got in the divorce settlement. He put it here to block what is in the garage, a Duesenberg Model J.

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Dean:
Don't know the history and apparently neither does the current owner - here's what his Craigslist ad says: "1929 Model "A" one half of a 2dr Sedan. It is what it is. Don't know the history or why it was done. One can only speculate. The whole 29 2dr sedan was in very good shape before being divided. Whoever cut the car & set it up, did a very nice job - very well done!" Fred

I'd hate to see the back side of the house.

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Too bad he is asking 3 times what it is worth. I would have use for the lower qtr., door, cowl post and possibly the tail light provided it is the nickle plated brass one and not the later SS. Definately not good timing for being able to purchase any of the parts I need, so hope the parts get used to restore a decent car and not displayed in its current form. Rod

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Whoever did this was probably a pot smoker who said, "I have half a mind. Think I'll go cut my Model A in half."

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
I've seen stuff like that in bars & restaurants for wall decor. It's a real shame but most likely whoever did it had no idea that they were destroying a historical artifact.

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Only thing missing in his description is the overused phrase "Ran when parked".

lets see... 30/31 tail light , head light and bar. hopefully the front ,rear and side apron is fiberglass ,the wheels are not good along with the radiator ..top hood and side is saved if original and whats up with that little guy standing in the front windshield??? It can roll around...there is a small roller in front near the door so its not a fixed Art . some ART.

Re: WARNING: Model A Owners Look Away
Somewhere out there, presumably, is a better half !
Best idea is (hopefully) that 'other side' was demolished somehow. Anyway, I'd like to think so, as if this beauty was as nice on both sides..the one that did this should be examined for a serious ....split personality complex Last edited by hardtimes; 03-01-2014 at 05:04 PM. Reason: ,,,,,,,, |
