I've asked around and received both answers so once and for all, does a Murray Town Sedan's drip rails have a screw thru the tips to help hold them on? The car I'm working on has them and I don't think it's right. Thanks

I believe they were only installed originally by snap fit on the backing plate. Based on my experience with both Murray and Briggs 4 drs.I would say that if you are fortunate enough to have a car with the original drip rails, it is only because someone in the past placed a screw to hold a rail in place that was probably getting loose enough to be a problem. Seems like many owners in the past got tired of them coming loose and yanked them off the car and threw them in the weeds.

My drip rails have screws that go into the header from the factory. Mine is a Briggs but they should both be the same in that regard.

My Murray has the screws at both ends. They look stock to me.

Mine has screws, and original drip rails. No question screws were used. Oval head since the holes have a countersink in the rail.

If someone has a photo of a set without the holes on the ends, I'd be shocked. BUT, this is just an opinion...I'm certainly no expert, just the owner of a fairly unmolested 155A. |
