Costco sells Interstate at a good price. What ever happened to Sears Diehard? Great batteries, maybe too good.

At the junkyard the best batteries were Sears Diehard. I was in charge of charging and testing all the junk car batteries, and Diehard was the best.

While on my 8 days trip to Indiana, I stopped at Wal-Mart just to see what they get for a 6 volt battery, and was surprised they didn't have one on the shelf.

In the 1950's J.C. Whitney used to sell a wonderful battery additive liquid which was advertised to bring "dead" batteries back to life.

The name of this product was "VX-6". It really worked well; however, is no longer available.

I later heard the VX-6 chemicals and formula was bought out by the Viagra Company.

Since the rudder seems to have fallen off this thread, lemme add to the melee.

Not sure why but OEM automotive batteries seem to last longer than most replacements. My 99 Dodge Ram pickup lasted for 16 years. The original battery in my 03 Dakota finally died last year (13 years).

I have a 12V Red Top Optima battery purchased in 2000 and is still going strong. From reading previous threads, the current Optima offerings do not seem to enjoy the same reputation.

I always look for Deka batteries when needing a replacement.

You will be amazed at how much longer a battery will last by using a battery tender.

AGM batteries cost more and hold a charge longer when stored.

As with most retail parts stores, O'Reilly's are locally owned - Gary/IA, your experience with O'Reilly's is particularly troubling and I wish you would consider providing feedback to the owner. I prefer O'Reilly's over Advanced, Auto Zone and NAPA as they seem to carry more parts that are made in the USA. NAPA is just too expensive but usually carry good stuff.

Are we still complaining and wasting gasoline and valuable time driving to shopping centers and shopping?

Are we still wasting time standing in long lies in stores with so few inexperienced cashiers at cash registers; and furthermore complaining about store workers who could care less about customer satisfaction?

Are we still wasting money buying inferior merchandise without customer review ratings?

Just wait a little while ....... "it" has already arrived and is getting better.

During our lifetime, our 35mm film cameras were "quickly" completely replaced with digital cameras ..... by doing nothing, Kodak folded; phone line wires to houses will all soon be gone leaving old phone companies in the dark; with computers, fewer are wasting their most valuable time driving to and from work and living in far better far away friendly neighborhoods.

With Amazon Prime and Paypal, money back guarantees with free return shipping and no questions asked are saving shoppers bundles of valuable time, gasoline, & money ....... and for most workers today, time "is" big money.

Others will soon follow Amazon's modern way of doing business ..... e.g., join Amazon "Prime" and get Free (2) day shipping.

Just a few days ago, a local hospital administrator showed me his newly acquired "Robot" that his doctors use to communicate with Cat-Scan machines and other medical devices to treat patients who recently had strokes ..... if at 2:00 A.M. when local neurological specialist are sleeping, Mr. "Robot" can quickly speak to and acquire advice from specialist in for example Australia, or anywhere else.

Hmmmm ...Will Model A parts ever be offered on Amazon ??????

Since Macs has such a large presence on E-bay, I expect to see them as a possible leader in the Amazon marketplace.

Now, whether this happens or not, only they will know.

My wooden nickle worth.
