Don’t feel bad, K. I don’t remember much about my brother’s 65 390 4 speed in 1967. And I did all the maintenance.

Sorry but I probably won't have time until Friday. Can it wait until then?

What have you decided on the HEATER CONTROL VALVE?

I'm still using the original valve but moved it slightly upstream. I added an elbow at the original valve location and attached the valve with a short of heater hose to the elbow.

Whenever you can get to it will be appreciated. I want to find the rhyme and reason for the odd 1964 ACL.

OK here are the measurements of my ACL.
The body is about 4-7/8" tall by about 18" in diameter, not including the snorkel.
The lid is 1-1/2" tall by 10-1/4" in diameter.
I took some photos as well.

Could it be an Edsel ACL? I did check for Edsel air filters but none matched the dimensions for height.

It could very well be, but EDSEL (part of MEL) cataloged its parts in a separate/dedicated text.

At one time ... ... I had complete cataloging (other than EDSEL) but got rid of it as I thought it was no longer needed. But I am a moron so nothing new to report here.

The photo you show is the 58 FE 361 (E-400). There is also a 410 MEL that may be unique also.

CORRECTION- I just noticed the photo is a 59 EDSEL. EDSEL dropped the MEL 410 for the 59 model run and I thought (need to verify) offered the FE 332 and 361 but I am not sure of those rocker covers. They are 58 unique if I remember correctly.

Eh, it will give me something to do ...

EDIT- (Fr. for I think I got it right this time)

This is the book that I have. I got it thinking it would help me find the filter I needed. Wrong plus now that I know from you that there are other books covering the other makes.
It's not a total waste. It has listings for all the other parts and specs the FSM does not show for my 56 Ford.
I can take photos fairly easily now. I found an old smart phone that I have that is compatible with my old macbook. It's a Motorola. It doesn't take the greatest photos plus my hands shake makes it harder. My iPhone which is fairly new will not work with my mac. What a bunch of BS. It takes great photos but are a big PITA to download.

That is a quick reference catalog, comparable to today's MOTORCRAFT QUICK REFERENCE CATALOG(s).

It only gives some fast moving part numbers. More detailed info needed will be found in the MASTER PARTS CATALOG of the period.

I've also found I have a couple of catalogs for 58 & 59 Edsels but none have any specific info for air filters other than the part numbers, B8E-9601-A & B.

Those are model year bound catalogs. They contain info on one or maybe two or more model years. FORD decided to combine years as time went on and cataloging became more cumbersome into MASTER PARTS CATALOGS (usually loose leaf but also bound) which combined several model years (ex as seen now 49/59 - 60/64 - 65/72 - etc.).

PS - Don't let those get away as they have original info that was later deleted from the MPC.

You have what?

Can you look in the EDSEL catalogs and see if size dimensions are given for the air cleaner housings themselves (BASIC PN 9600)?

No big hurry, when and if you can.

That was the 1st thing I checked and there wasn't anything that specific. It only has part numbers and a few illustrations for all the models. The 59 book looks like only a supplement to the 58 book.

THANX! for sharing that.

I've never come across an EDSEL CATALOG.

They're not going anywhere, including the Edsel books. Interesting thing, the Edsel books also contain Canadian info.
