I would agree, but it is a possibility if someone is interested.

The rods are the same for the ford an merc. only the pistons are different to make up for the 1/4 inch difference in stroke.

Believe everyone understands that, the other option is the French rods which are shorter.

keep in mind if the bore goes over 60, merc piston options get scarce

Cas3
I don't understand??
Perhaps you're thinking about stock overbore stuff? 20, 30, 40, etc?
Egge will make 3 5/16 + .015 or .020, or .030
Ross will make almost anything, with almost any ring config

Worried that you guys are losing sleep over this thread, I'm back with an update!

On Ol'Ron's recommendation I went out to Long Island to visit Gary (GOSFAST) at The Engine Shop. What a great guy who clearly knows his flatheads. I'm looking forward to learning the condition of my block and hopefully getting the build started.

I'll be back with updates

Good choice. You seem to be in the right location. I wish he was closer to me.

Thanks again Ron. I'm sure that his craftsmanship is top notch, but I also really appreciate his taking the time to educate me as I plan to assemble the motor myself and have a lot to learn
