I'm not sure why you have a third wire in the harness, but if you add turn signals it would be good to use it for the right turn signal bulb. I don't have turn signals, but if I add them I prefer to add their own harness with 2 wires and seperate lights.

I agree, I would rather have a separate harness and lights if I were to add turn signals too. Right now I want to stay as original as I can. I still need to trace that wire and find out why it is hot regardless.

On another note; I don't seem to be having a charging problem (I just got her running and haven't run her much yet) but, I have seen in other post that you have designed and built an EVR for the A and I thought it might be smart to add one to my Roadster. Could you let me know if it is possible to get one? I appreciate all the advice.
Thanks,

Mitch

I got one & love it. It fits inside the back of the generator by removing the third brush. Automaticly adjusts the charging current to driving conditions. Also, converted my cut-out relay to a diode at the same time I installed the EVR.

I have the voltage regulator from Mac's that looks like a cutout on the generator. It works great, no more adjusting the 3rd brush when I'm going on a night trip.

The correct wiring harness should only have 2 wires at the tail lite end-the black tail lite wire and the green brake lite wire. The only yellow wires in harness are from gen to horn and gen to lite switch. Also, check that brake lite switch is good.Ive had new repops that had to be taken apart & repaired before they could be used.

That's what I thought from the wiring diagram but, it definetly has a third wire...and it is hot. I was checking the tail light area and only had one wire running to the tail light. There was electrical tape wrapped around the end of the cloth harness and when I removed it there were three wires and one of them is HOT! Didn't make any sense to me...I'll have to trace it and see where it starts.
As for the stop light switch figure I'll remove it and open it up and see if I can clean it up and get it working. It's all part of the reason I'm into these great old cars.
