Does your intake manifold have and make any use of these two holes if present?
If not then I suspect you have crankcase ventilation issues.

The plumbing looks right to me, in at the bottom and out the side. the return to the oil filler stand is not ideal as blowby can pick up the returning oil and blow it out the breather.

So where EXACTLY do you think the oil is coming from?

Does your oil pan have the small triangular protrusion just behind the crank pulley?

Looking again I see the fitting is below the fuel pump stand. That might be ok.

Does your fuel pump/oil fill stand have all the baffles in place below, including the inner tubular part?

If you take off the oil feed line, and the fittings, (prepare for spillage) and examine the fittings, one of them (preferably the one at the engine end) should have a restrictor. It should be in the region of 60 thou, 1/16", 1.5mm or thereabouts.

If you don't have a restrictor, find something suitable, knock it in there and drill it 1/16".

As you describe yourself as no mechanic, it is difficult to offer advice as owning and repairing a car of this type does require some level of mechanical understanding.

Mart.

This is an 8BA engine which has a different breathing system. There is not any triangular protrusion/vent in that location on an 8BA configuration.

The restrictor hole is built into the filter housing and there is not any need for any restictor fittings.

Get the correct lid seal for the oilfilter housing...$1.99 from speedway motors.
Reroute the oilreturn down to the side of the block where it should be.
Putting 59AB intake on an 8BA block gives you breathing issues...then sticking oilreturn into breather...pumping air in and out the breather tube while pooring oil into the airstream...
The above should calm things down a bit hopefully.

Might not make a difference but have to agree with moving the oil return line to the drivers side port on the block, where it belongs.

If the fuelpump pushrod bushing is not plugged there can be mucho oil splashed up on the breather.

If the differentail pressure of the filter is the issue it´s badly clogged up and needs a change asap...
Take the return hose of and check the size of the hole into the fuel stand and the holes in the fittings.
Any holes much less then the size of the tube and that may be the issue...

Well, it is a by-pass system. Now you need to see if you can verify where the oil is leaking from. You could try removing the filter just to see if it makes any difference. Guess it is possible it is too fine of a micron rating to allow good oil flow. If the outlet passages are all larger than the inlet restrictor there should not be much pressure build up in the canister.

You can get a lot of blow by up that breather tube. One earlier version of the by-pass filter plumbed the return into the same location you are using. Because of the blow by issues the return was moved to the front timing cover. And then later to the oil pan.
