I get about 15, and sometimes 17, but no higher.

Syncro99, I would recommend a 4.11 R&P, with your 16% OD, it should do very well.

Jim, I've never spoken to anybody with a 4.11 rear end but my other cars do well with a 3.78 ratio and the 26% O/D (I assume your 16% is a typo). My motors are not standard except this B engine which should put out 50hp anyway. I realise a new CW&P is in my future but they are oh so very expensive.

I never checked the mileage, no need to. When it got down to a 1/4 tank I would just put 10-15$ in it. Same with my "new" 40 with dual 97"s, just put more (a lot more

My Coupe with 3.78 rear end and a Tillotson F1 B carburetor consistently delivered 25 to 26 mpg on 100 mile trips I regularly made. That all changed when I upgraded the cars appearance with paint and upholstery and decided to install a Zenith carburetor. No other mechanical change made but my gas mileage dropped to 19-20 mpg.

Two things a man lies about: his gas mileage and sex life.

I get 24 mpg on tours at about 55 mph on imperial gallons. 26 % overdrive B carb on bored A manifold, radial 18 inch tyres, standard roadster.
Round town this drops to 17 to 18 mpg. Plugs run a very light tan colour on tours. SAJ in NZ Last edited by SAJ; 03-05-2020 at 05:35 AM. Reason: Added plug colour |
