The dovetail is the chrome or bright nickel device below the hole missing the screw. The dovetail has a different screw.
Thanks. Should the screw be 3/4 inch long?
I also noticed that my back door is also missing a screw.

Thanks... Now I have to find that countersunk lock washer. Even the existing screw has no lock washer.

I have to special order screws with oval head...
I did purchase several screws without oval head to see if they fit.
One fit perfectly but the other door the screw would not screw in and would not fit totally thru the hole.
I am thinking of taping out the hole with the proper size and seeing if it will go in.
Hopefully that will re-establish the 10-32 thread, If not then I will have to tap with the NEXT larger size. What is the next size larger from 10-32?

if you change to a #12 screw the head will be larger and not fit properly. Use a starting tap with a starting taper and go straight.

Good idea.. The hole seems tight for the proper size screw so maybe there is enough metal there to renew the thread.

It was common in the day to enter the car from the non traffic side.
Old movies from the thirties and forties show people entering from that side often.
Floor shifter was more towards the front of the car also to accommodate this as well.

Sometimes a # 10 hole is too far gone, you can enlarge to # 12 and Roy does have #12 screws with # 10 heads. Macs also used to have them.

Good to know thanks...If they were not available I was already planning to shave the larger head down to be equal to the size 10 screw head if I needed to make a large hole.

Funny, my right side rear door latch had No screws in it but the threads seem good, I put a 10-32 screw in to hold the latch mechanism.

Received the hardware from Roy...They are beautifully made!
Roy is the best....His stuff is so beautifully made that I am tempted to buy an assortment of every item he has!
I had to tap one screw hole and the replacement screw and washer fit perfectly.
One other hole the screw was to loose..so I will have to tap that hole the larger size and buy the next size up screw to fit...
I have been told that Roy even sells a larger thread screw with the smaller size head of the original screws!! What an amazing guy! You gota love it when a guy..knows his stuff and throws himself into his work like Roy does!

I appreciate your help, but can't find it...Maybe I don't have the latest calalog.

I told Roy to send me his regular 12-32 1/4 in screws with regular size oval head and now he says there is no such screw used in the automotive field! Am I in the Twilight zone!

Should we be asking for 8-32 1/4 screws as the size large than 10-32 1/4??

Not Certain, but I believe that for #12 screws, Ford used 24 threads per inch not 32?

Is 12-24 1/4 a larger diameter screw than 10-32 1/4?

Might want to look at a screw size chart.
