I used to use dello 400, until it went SE. Switched to rotella.
Used to get 4 one gallon jugs of dello at Costco for 36 bucks.

But the white walls and green fenders will keep the dirty air away from your engine. But it will attract the nay Sayers.

Shell Rotella T has been known as a "cure-all" for high performance engines (like Chevron Delo), but some enthusiasts forget that it is designed as a Diesel engine oil, meaning that it has high levels of detergent (sulfated ash). While it is ok to use (and not as perfect as everyone believes), if I were running a flat tappet cam I would look at something like Brad Penn Oil, or Royal Purple-Oils that are designed for flat tappet engines (they have the proper amount of ZDDP), and a sulfated ash content around .8%.

Yes, there are people who say that Rotella has worked great, and it can (but for how long?), however, International Harvester ran Diesel Oil early on in it's Gas engines only to find out that the increased zinc was causing failures to the exhaust valves-why? Deposits left due to the uneeded amounts of zinc. Their solution? First, they were so concerned about this phenonom that they purchased an Oil Company, then they designed and offered two different brands of oil, what they called #1 (for Deisel engines), and a dedicated Gas engine Oil-they did it for a reason.

The manufacturer of this "diesel engine oil" says it has Ash in it that acts as a detergent? I heard that detergent oils are bad for these old engines because they can loosen 80 years worth of sediment too fast and clog the oil filter screens and even worse
