Have you been into "A"s very long? This is just one of MANY obsessions an "A" purist is concerned with. When it comes to the "A" purist, it is my opinion, no other automobile is held to as high a standard as the Model "A". We can probably attribute that to Henry's unbelievable depth of production documentation. Its a good thing, just not for everyone. As long as the purist doesent have his nose in the air when it comes to drivers, I can live with it. Different strokes for different folks.

Seems to me that Ol' Henry was just STINGY in sanding & priming!!! I wonder how many buyers COMPLAINED about the poor finishing??

Anyone that wants to duplicate the look and feel of the fender as it left the factory, that's who!

1wonton,
Some folks like the challenge of returning their "A" back to the way it was when it first came out of the factory. I assure you that this qwest is not for all. As we said years ago, 'Different strokes for different folks'.

Also, there are some spot weld marks in original fenders, that should be visible on restored fenders.

Thats correct! The re enforcement plate on the edge of the fender was placed there with spot welds and the action of the welder can be seen.

It's not a Dusenberg, it's a Ford. Filing the little seratioins on the fender bead for what? Make another point on judging? One-up the other guys? Are you guys serious or just putting me on? Do you have NOS valve cores in your tubes? Original air? Sheesh!

As a matter of fact we do along with the original interior odors. About 74 years ago someone farted in my car and i can still smell it.. That gives extra points

1wonton,
No one is forcing you to do detailed thing (making it like it originally was) to your car, but this IS a restoration board. There have been people, like you, in the past that comment on detailed questions and it doesn't add much, in my opinion, like Dean Drenzek stated concerning your first post in this string. Some people, including me, enjoy trying to restore their car to "right off the assembly line" condition. BTW, Dean's very early 28 phaeton (really 1927) is a sight to behold. A very nice authentic restoration as reflected in the very high score he receive at the MARC meet in French Lick three weeks ago. Early 28's had a lot of unusual parts on them, making it very hard to make them authentic.
