At least, there will be several new "A" Models, on the road, in the next few years.

Wow, how long would it take to catalogue all that?

And auction it ?

And how many fights between buyers of whose stuff is whose .

There will be a lot of bulk lots sold in that .

And, fear I, a lot will go to scrap simply because the "system" is not equipped to deal with such a volumetric overload.

Was it Marshall Daut who told of buying an Iowa barn FILLED with Model A parts - of which he then spent months cleaning it out and getting it all under control?

This may be like that but worse.

Honest John Bradley is reported to have bought a good portion of Page's Model A of Haverhill, NH - contained in THREE barns. But John is now in the "winding down" stages of not only collecting/buying but selling off as well. See his website at http://honestjohnoldcar.com/

Estate auctions usually make me sad. In this case, I think that old guy must've gone out happy. He couldn't possibly have accumulated more neat stuff in TWO lifetimes. And now he's stuck his kids with getting rid of it all. How cool is that?

There will probably be some good deals at the end. I bet this one will go on forever. I went to a auction a few years ago. It rained so hard and no one hardly showed up. Had a ton of 40's and 50's fords. All went to scrap. I was only there to buy some rebuilt flathead v8's. And some transmissions. They ended up selling them all in lots. To make it go faster. When he was alive he would not sell anything. And when he died it all went for nothing. I felt bad for the family. But they are like most people that end up with old cars. They think they have a gold mine. And they usually end up disappointed.

I know of at least two antique car auctions that the owner stayed with the auctioneer and if the vehicle didn't reach his price, it was a no sale. Most of the crowd left when they realized what was happening. Look for "absolute" in the auction flyers.

Angry Re: Cool auction

This kind of guy disgusts me, honestly. Rather than saving and protecting, he wasted a lot of good cars with his hoarding and poor storage. We'll never know how many times he was asked to sell some desirable or hard to find part or car, but his apparent selfishness and greed will now likely result in a lot of once restorable material lost to scrap. This is just a monumental example of irresponsible waste.

There will be folks trying to buy a lot for scrap. I think I got the wife talked into letting me go up there with my step dad. I would might bid on a car or two. But the main reason I want to go. Is for parts. And I have been getting a pretty good stash of engins built up. And would like to try and get a few more. And maybe try and get a couple of the bodies in that pile that might could be saved.
