Default 29 Taxi cab on eBay

There is a REAL 29 Taxi on eBay. 3 hinges on the back doors and the correct roof profile.

I'm surprised the bid isn't higher for such a rare car. He must have ignition problems because the instrument panel is off, the coil wire is out, and the terminal box cover is off or missing.

Here's the link:

"the rarity of an A400 at a fraction of the price........"

admittedly not as attractive.

I think it's cool and I'm buying an extra lottery ticket today.

I am missing something. Tom can see the instrument panel and coil wire, but where is it? I only see 4 pictures and none are of the fire wall or interior. What gives?

You should see at least 6 photos then hit the arrow on the right and the rest will string over.

This is from Vernon Burks collection. I got to sit in this taxi years ago when Vernon had it at a car show locally here. He told me one time his goal was to have one car of every body style and year. There is a town car in the collection. Vernon just passed away not to long ago. He had his own museum in Shelby, Ohio that was awsome. Better buy two lottery tickets for some of these cars.

Just an observation, but you would think rolling the cars outside for some good photos would be worth the investment of time. Bob

I looked at the Deluxe Phaeton that's also up for sale from the collection. With only 3946 built in 1930 I'm surprised it was assembled prior to the change to the round speedo. I've only seen the round speedo in Deluxe Phaetons. This must be an early 30 build

I agree. Good clear pictures alone with Ford states to show the actual rarity of this body style would go a long way to get top dollar.

Stories submitted to the national magazines documenting the car before it went up for sale would not have been a bad idea either.

I used to live three or four blocks from Vernon and would visit off and on when visiting my parents after moving to Michigan. One time I spent seven hours as Vernon went car to car explaining when and where each was bought. Forty plus A's and ten other cars were in two 40x80 pole barns right in the center of a city block. He wanted only one of each Model A but not AA's. If I recall the only one missed was a Towncar Delivery, though he had an opportunity to buy one but was too expensive. If memory serves me, his first A was bought in 1958 and the last may have been the Deluxe Pickup several years ago. He was restoring for a while at the rate of about one a year. Of the forty plus A's, maybe a dozen or so were restored drivers and the rest mostly rough. Ten years ago I led several A's from our local region on an over-night tour to see his collection. I'm glad I did as now it's being sold off. Didn't know he had passed until reading Tom's post. Vernon was a super friendly guy.

Wayne,
I have no idea as to value, as I'm sure very few are left, but would guess reserve at 20k,
when I close my eyes and pretend I'm Houdini...........

That is my problem also. Because there are so few their is no current guide. I usually use three reputable sources that are usually very close on value. They all show a blank on this one. Thanks for the reply.

How much did the last one that sold go for?

What's it's value to you?

It's a rare style, are you planning to park it, drive it, restore it.

Take my fordor, It's the first fordor I ever saw in person, The first A
I ecer sat it, I learned to drive an A in it. It's the car that got my son interested in Model A's. While it far from a show car I would not take 50,000 for it.

well, it didn't sell and my crystal ball failed me.
the reserve was higher then the deluxe phaeton. Would guess most would prefer to own the deluxe. I sure would............

some of the rarer cars would probably be better served through an auction house.

Deluxe Phaetons are WAY more available than a Taxi... Taxi, Two to three times the price on condition, & how complete it is..
