I'm Taking the 38, The Wife and my Dad to the west Coast this Easter for the annual Vintage Car Club Easter Rally. Its a 350 mile round trip with approx. 130 miles of "Rally" in between. From home its over the Southern Alps, which is a bit of a challenge, there are two ways to get there,1 easy 1 much tougher, although fairley easy these days in a modern car, but 3 gears and cable brakes it should be fun ! We are going over Arthurs Pass and back home through the Lewis Pass, Will take pics and a video{ have been practising} I thought I better get a few wee jobs done that I've been meaning to do for a while. Took the front seat out to get new springs, etc, as its been very uncomfortable , with that out its only an hour or two to whip off the floorboards and replace the gearbox mounts. Yea right! Glad I did tho as they were stuffed as I Suspected. Also put in new engine mounts.Made a wee bracket [as per the thread of a few days ago]to stop the window wiper sitting on the roof! Its can be very wet on the West Coast. Its got the Highest rainfall in New Zealand.

We did a trip over the Haast pass in the early seventies on a single cylinder BSA,it lost a screw from the chain case and sprayed oil over new wife Carols leg,and the dust stuck to that, what a mess, fun though.
Must be that time of year for trips,we are off in the 33 and caravan on wed for about 3 weeks, We are going down to Roma via the back roads then maybe down into blues territory(NSW0 and back up into Queensland via Bourke. Rain has eased this morning after the bad weather moved from ex cyclone ITA out to sea. Lawrie |

Looks like you're doing the right things to correct some bad parts. Have fun on the trip and take lots of photos.

Have fun on your trip. Can't wait to see the video. If you have a product there called RainX, you could apply it on your windshield. It will bead and shed the rain. Good luck!

Hi Guy's, I would be interested in any more pics of the Jailbar if you have them, or know where to get them. My wife is Bob Burnett's daughter. I know she would be interested in seeing the project. Many thks Drew.
