Amazing how nice tube type radios sound compared to the modern solid state crackle boxes. It really fills the Model A quite well. |

That tire inflator looks like another case of: Here's the answer to a question that was never asked!

The Model A authorized accessories book is full of "great" ideas. Some of them must have been invented by someone from "Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Fun read though...

But they last forever. The B+ supply current draw is only a few milliamps. They tend to get old and leak or corrode long before they run out of energy. The D cells wear out faster than the AA cells do.
Running a Zenith Transoceanic radio off of batteries and listening to shortwave on a weekend camping trip is just super cool. Having radio in the Model A feels kinda special too. Even if it is just WWV. We're getting off topic again... Before this thread gets deleted.... Ahem... So, what kind of oil do you run in your Model A? Whitewalls or blackwalls? Stock or modified?? No, wait... We're not supposed to talk about that anymore either. I meant, "Do you run Marvel Oil in your gas or not?" |

PS,
How about running the 90v B+ from 10 9v batterys in series? Just clip them together Positive to Negitive and run a wire from each end terminal. One dollar each at the DOLLAR STORE.

That was one solution. However, my goal was to keep the batteries within a box that fit well inside the radio in the location where the old style T.O. battery fit. Since this radio gets a lot of use, the AA solution is best. My company buys AA batteries by the hundreds, so they are also plentiful for me.

It would be interesting if any of the hub caps with the special nipple survived. would be an interesting conversation piece at a car show.
