Default Cool A Photo

In case you don't recognize him, the "pilot" of this A is none other than Chuck Yeager. Apparently he was a fan of the Model A and drove it to and from the base regularly. With all credit due, I found this photo at www.chuckyeager.com. Must of been settling at the end of the day to climb into the seat of that 4 cylinder, after flying the latest that technology had to offer at 50,000 feet.

I wonder what became of it. It is not stock, so he might have had some fun with it.

Chuck Yeager was here in New Zealand for an airshow a few years back and I recall him telling us that he had barrel rolled the 707 prototype at the Paris airshow after being told not to do anything silly with the priceless prototype.
He then felt that he was in so much trouble that he turned the aircraft around and did it again!
Google it to see actual footage of this stunt

I believe it was Tex Johnston that barrel rolled the 707.

I enjoy seeing coupes and roadsters that still have a trunk.
His coupe still had one.

Clearly the Tex Johnson story is true but Chuck Yeager recounted that he did the barrel role at the Paris Airshow. I've seen that too on Youtube

If anyone has some very old Restorer magazine, there was an article about an A coupe at Edwards Airforce Base that would be sold to pilots with the condition that they did not altar its condition or appearance. Could this be that coupe?
