Right on Fibber McGee! I am 43 - remember Grandpa playing Big Band when I was very little, still play it while cruising in his 41, it's a real time travel on a summers evening bopping along a country lane.
I also like Django Reinhardt, and for some real hip sounds check out Glenn Crytzer, he captures perfectly the prewar period music but is a newer artist.
