Re: Hello from Payson Az
You have found the best online place for help. Masters of the A are ready to assist you (along with the rest of us.)
Look up and join a local club. There are two national clubs MAFCA and MARC http://www.mafca.com/chapters/AZ.html from MAFCA and MARC Model A Restorers Club of Arizona Region- 2010 PO Box 5255 Mesa, AZ 85201 Robert Ingram 480-947-1820 [email protected] Arizona Model A, L.L.C 15838 South Gilbert Road Chandler, Arizona 85225 (480)782-0266 They should be able to help with the starter along with many others listed in the top of this forum labeled; " Model A/AA Ford Websites...Can YOU add to the list?" Again, welcome, and I congratulate you in keeping the car in your family.

Re: Hello from Payson Az
I made this tool to straighten armatures. Just watch the large flat washer and nut on the bottom as you rotate the shaft. When the washer is closest to the frame, you tighten the nut to pull the shaft down a bit. When it's straight the nut and washer will not bob up and down as the shaft is rotated.
You can also set the shaft on 2 V blocks and press down on the high spot in the shaft. They are really quite easy to straighten. Replacement Bendix drives are available from the Model A parts stores, such as Bert's, Bratton's, Snyder's, etc. When you install the drive be sure the short bolt goes next to the pinion, and be sure the lock tabs on the washers are bent in firmly against the FLAT side of the hex bolts. |
