There was a story on the Early V8 forum about a guy in England who pulled a 36 Ford out of the river and restored it.

Did you guys notice the big tin?? cover under the car where the motor & trans should have been? BUT, the HIGH point was that "they" served really SCRUMPTIOUS BBQ! ![]() ![]() The movie NEVER showed the car going in, & when it came out, it WAS, I repeat, it WAS a Model A!! I've run that film back & forth a dozen times, tryin' to figger out that metal cover under it. Bill W. (After studying the pic, I WUZ WRONG!! It IS a '32 to '34 P.U. WELL! while we're talkin' movies, I watched the modern version of King Kong the other day ( the one starring Jack Black) and there were Tons of old 30's cars in that movie. I'm not sharp enough to know what all of the other cars were, although there was a lot of Model A's running the streets

we had a guy who had restored a 1935 b john deere.
The story goes, A guy ordered a john Deere B in 1935, in 37 he was pulling stumps off the side of a hill and the chain broke and rolled down the hill and into the lake, fast forward to the late seventies The DNR got a wiff of the story and ordered it out of the lake. A towing company pulled it out and a friend of mine bought it for the price of getting it towed. He got it home and it suprisly turned over! he took the engine cover off and cleaned all the dirt out and flushed the cylinders with kerosene and checked the bearings and every thing was good and tight (the lake water was not corrosive) he then repainted it and put rubber on it and now it is a nice B WHAT THEY DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME>>> This was an Early 35 Brass tagged B, With the 4 bolt front end, and Edison spitdorf mag. it was one of the first 2000 tractors made of the B It is really still a new B! Man how I wish I had it! I remember reading In a model a magazine, (marc? mafca?) that there was a guy who was ice fishing with a roadster pickup and it went through, and then later dug out and restored, late 70 early 80's was the publication Does anybody have a copy of the article? |

There was a Bugatti that was driven into a lake in Switzerland because the owner didn't want to pay import taxes in the thirties or there abouts. A year or two ago, it was removed from the lake, not in the best condition and went to auction.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...0-auction.html There is a story going around that there is another Bugatti in Japan with the same serial as this one. |

Dave,
While working at the Volvo dealer in 1970, a lady's new Volvo was submerged in 40 ft water in crystal clear, Pine Flat Lake, for 36 hours. We restored that car in the shop & she drove it for 14 years before trading it in. Bill W.

I worked for a couple doing odd jobs when I was a teen and they had a huge pond which was dug during the construction of I-75 near Cygnet Ohio. Before it filled with water they pushed 3 old cars (40's I believe) to the bottom. They are still there but you can't see them because of the plant growth. They're both dead now but one guy still lives right by it and was there when they did it. He probably knows exactly the make/model/year.

I think John Dudens post (yes, I remember the article) tells a story that I am sure is pretty common. One of our local lakes supposedly has several cars on the bottom from an ice fishing incident. A chunk broke loose and floated away from the main land with the cars on it and eventually sunk. Always wanted to learn to scuba dive and find them.
