Been told these are the same as some F-1 trucks is this true? Looking at buying a 48 merury convertable and trying to line up some parts in advance.

No. Ford and Mercury used the same Lockheed brake up through '48. The '48 F-1 used the new Bendix design brakes that had been used on Lincolns.

Lockheed brakes were 12" so were the Lincolns.
F1 brakes were of the Bendix self energizing type, same as the Lincoln but the F1 brakes were 11"

The F1 has a front drum that is like no other due to the spindle & backing plate design and as 32phil mentions they are 11" front & rear. The rear drums for F1 will fit about any Dana 41/44 rear axle so they are common. All the 39/48 Ford & Merc cars were 12-inchers with Lockheed design brakes
