28 electric wiper switch
What was used for a switch for the windshield wipers on a 28 Briggs?
I have one wire to ground and two wire dangling where a switch should be but no switch. |

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
The switch is inside the motor. The control knob opens and closed the switch. Just a basic cam style switch. Rod

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
Ruh Roh Shaggy.... I must not have the right wiper motor.
Mine has no switch. External mount, two wires come inside, one to ground, the other to a non-existent switch. I guess while I research what should be there I'll just fashion a bracket a put a switch in. |

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
OK... I'm coming up empty...
Let me start with a simple question. Is the Original wiper on a 28 Briggs an electric or vacuum? If electric, which everything seems to point to, is the unit mounted inside our outside the car? |

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
Electric, outside.
Per the Judging Standards probably a Owens-Dyneto Corp. OD-C1A or B. Good diagrams on page 20-3 of the JS. Steve PS. I did the same thing on mine. Mounted a tiny switch under the dash as I got a good deal on one without an integral switch but looks correct to the untrained eye...still on the lookout for an original tho... |

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
Here is a link on a completed listing. This one is the OD-C1A as it has a script. Rod

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
MrWzrd,
My car has its wiper motor in a bag. The base was broken. I finally called Berts and they had an untested one which I purchased. I am in the priocess of tryint to repair it, The motor works but I neeed some parts. Mine is an OD-C1B for my Oct 2, 1928 Leatherback. Gve Berts a call. Maybe they have another one. Also Model A Wipers sells completely rebuilt units for $395 each. I have been tryung to gat a few parts from them but they have not been respopnsive. Perhaps they will respond if you buy a complete unit. Good luck, Supergnat |

Re: 28 electric wiper switch
Rainex works wonders and is a heck of a lot cheaper. The original wiper is only good for looks.
