![]() ![]() ![]() This is the second round of catching junk with the hose. The first round netted about a table spoon of small debris. The sprite can was not in the engine. This project started with a frame only. I purchased a front end and rear end from a man that had removed them from a "restored" car and built a hot rod. The engine I got was not rebuilt but had been opened up and looked at by someone I know and trust. It runs great but leaks a small amount of oil. I'm ok with that. Any way just thought I would share. This is a good way to catch any junk that might be in the engine.

Panty hose on the top water outlet inside the top radiator hose. It catches the junk before going into my freshly cleaned radiator. I was told to do it and read about the procedure on the Ford Barn.
I have used panty hose ever since I started the engine for the first time. This last go around I have been actually driving the chassis around in all three gears so I gave it a good work out. I plan on using hose until it comes out clean.

I installed a drier nylon last fall and haven't removed it yet to check. I did change my dripping drain cock the other day and found rust junk in it, so I expect to find more in the nylon when I remove it.

To save money, use them in your "A", AFTER wearing them.
Seriously, does the hose go into the radiator tank ? MIKE ![]() |

I drove around last night and it started getting hot. Pulled the hose this morning and there was a small ball of dirt already collected. About the size of a tootsie pop.
I guess that would be enough to restrict flow and let it get hot? I'm just throwing the hose away. At this rate I'm going to have to go back for more hose!
