Re: tyres
I have checked the tire prices at Summit and there stock numbers match Cokers and are usually a few dollars more.

Re: tyres
Very few people deal with that type over here.. Maybe you should have put a call out as I know one of our "brothers" on this site 48-710 has some crossplys for sale.
I had a hell of a time trying to get tyres , I was just lucky that when I went through licensing the inspector turned a blind eye to the fact that I had "big and littles" on it. Saved me some bucks! phew! I even went and bought some 15" rims thinking that I would have to find radials..

Re: tyres
Don't they make tires down under. When I bought one of the fords (57 or 34)there was a set of WW on that I believe were firestones & I was surprised to see made in New Zealand on the side wall.

In the 50's, 60's and 70's New Zealand used to be a lot like South America with old cars from the 30's and 40's everywhere. Long after the obsolescence of 16" tyres in the U.S New Zealand still required the old tyres. Firestone made 16" tyres in Christchurch, New Zealand for many years. Then one day in the late 70's? the moulds were sent back to the U.S. possibly because the market was growing again over there, and who would want to import tyres from New Zealand when you could make your own. Drats and Dread! My brother-in-law worked at Firestone and was entitled to one set of free tyres per year. One year he lost his licence to drive and I was the beneficary of his entitlement. My '38' Pickup was the best shod V8 in town. |

Re: tyres
I recently priced 650/16 wide white radials here in NZ and they were $625 each. Thats alot of money. It still not too bad when compared to my mates new Audi Q7, its tyres are $1200 each and only last 15000ks, and Audi says thats the norm.
