'55 Ford Customline Wiper Arm Removal
What's the trick to getting the wiper arms off the pivot shaft on my '55 Ford Cutomline? I lifted the arm and tried wiggling and slightly prying between arm and shaft. Didn't budge.
All input greatly appreciated~~~~Dude.... |

If you lift up the arm and look at the splined part it goes on to, you will see a small metal tang under there. You really have to look almost from underneath it..its hard to fit your melon in there to see.
But its there. get a small pocket screwdriver and pry out that tang while pulling up on the end thats attached.. You may have to pry lightly with the screwdriver on the arm itself to get it started.

Yup, and they can be a real bear to get off sometimes. If you have a can of PB Blaster and can finagle the little nozzle up in there squirt some in and let it soak for a few minutes. It might help if they're being stubborn.

I agree with the above . They are probably stuck on there. But that is the way they come off. Bill

If I remember correctly, the spring that holds the wiper arm down also holds pressure on the inside of the part where the knob goes into. You have to hold down the side where the arm is while lifting the side opposite the arm.
They can be a bi**h to get off. |

They are a bugger sometimes, I use a small pry bar to apply very light pressure upwards while I am lifting up the little metal ring.
Question while we are at it. Last time mine were put on it actually hosed up the splines a bit, wondering if thats OK? Looks like they were just forced on there are not aligned with the splines correctly. |
