Just bought a future project a 1930 pickup but the engine and frame numbers match and indicate a march 1931 build. I know the 1930 pu came out about june of 1930 not jan. like the car... It is a narrow bed and I did find a sediment bowl in a box of parts that came with it it is apart as it was a started project but not completed so I only have a bill of sale and it is listed as a 1930. I don't get the indented firewall stuff as all firewalls have an indentation where the engine sits???? One more thing to all my naysayers I flat towed it 150 miles home only had a tire go down 2 miles from home!!!!! Luck Of The IRISH or God does take care of fools!

Sounds like a 31 from what you say. The indented firewall is on late 31 vehicles, and the indent is where the gas line goes to the firewall. It is because the tank has a spigot that goes up to that indent, and the gas shutoff valve is in the engine compartment, not under the tank inside the cab. If your gas shutoff valve is inside the cab, you have an early 31 (which the engine and frame number seem to indicate. The later 31 pickups could have one, two, or all three features of the late truck, including the steel one piece top, indented firewall, and wide bed.
