Imagine how much it would have gone for if it had the correct wheels?

Pretty cool that it still has the original alternator on it! Supposedly the float-a-motors were NOS found on a shelf in a long vacant Ford dealer that no one had been inside of since Roosevelt was commander in chief!

(and in case anyone couldn't tell, my above comments were dripping with sarcasm)

Sarcasm is good!!

What many folks here probably do not realize is the person(s) who pay what some here feel is "too much money" for these cars really do not care as they are buying them as an expendable toy. They really don't do it as an investment.

Is that expensive for a Victoria? I've seen them advertized for a lot more than that, guess I haven't ever watched one sell, often times there is a big difference between selling price and asking price, especially on antique cars. I saw a 29 Tudor in nice condition, nothing special, the owner was asking $28K ... probably would have sold for about $20K less than his asking price!

One of the things discussed in the "Most-asked question about your Model A?" is how some guys get really annoyed when people ask "How much is It worth?" I've kicked the question back to them asking "What do you think it's worth?" and have gotten crazy replies of 40 thousand etc. My car is a driver at best with an Earl Scheib paint job. They are surprised when I tell them 9000. People just don't know, but you would think they would do some research first before they buy.

That's what I consider part of the research, asking me how much I paid for my car, or how much it's worth. I tell them, as it doesn't bother me for them to know what I paid. I also tell them the amount I paid is what I think was about half it's actual value. There are still values to be had.

With all the things "wrong" with it, I think so. If this is a "body-off restored" car and with all the incorrectly put on the car, what else is incorrect for the car?

If they can get that much for a fair restoration, I wonder what they would sell my unrestored original Vickie for?

Spdway1. Now there's a correct answer! I would agree with that one, for some of us a $10K car is worth $100K every time we drive it. Its kind of like property values, every year when I get my property tax statement I hope the value has gone down, everyone else is complaining that it isn't high enough (the value, not the taxes!) I'm going to live here til they haul me out in a bag so I'd like the value to go to zero. Same with Model A values, if the bottom would drop out of them I'd be happy as a lark cause I could buy more. I'll never sell mine anyway. By the way, I bought a lake lot last year for 40% of the tax value... whats up with that? It'd been on the market for 2 years too.

It's not the investment that bothers me. It's that they are not getting the genuine article for their money. I know that it is their decision, but I believe that original is much better than modified. Always have, always will. Just my thoughts.
