Unhappy Another history re-write

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/...a/1508289.html

Saw this ad this morning. Look at the article on the Ford who built this car.

Sad, boy is it just me, or is that color combo look all wrong?

Are you referring to this line?

Do you think they had Gerald Ford's copy of the Judging Standards?

This color scheme was the standard when Gerald was building these. Also the standard Black color for the engine. As a cost savings measure the interiors were offered as an option. :

I'm leaning towards a tech savvy 19 year old writting the description. You're got to remember that this car is being sold in G.R. Mi. the hometown of GRF.

It has a nice homemade fuse setup on it (yellow). I also like the welting between the cowl panels and gas tank - just the way Henry, I mean Gerald, did it!

Gerald was ahead of his time with the sealed beam headlights. They may function but I think it is the worst cosmetic change you can make to a Model A.

To me the black hinges and the cross point screws add such a nice touch.

That may be true, but our Henry Ford didn't have a middle name, so the Gerald R. Ford is bogus.

Hmmm.. We on this board do have the advantage of having a very specific interest in the Model A, and with that interest, a deeper-than-most knowlege of finite historical points and mechanical details that the average layman will not have.

That being said, we should always strive to educate others when incorrect, and do so as gentlemen (and ladies). Although the idea of President Gerald Ford having a hand in the creation of the Model A is humorous, we should try to gently nudge others to the correct information, and not use our knowlege either as a weapon or punishment to others not so well versed. We must try to build a thirst for truth, and not a punishment for error.

Now that I have said that and gotten off my virtual soapbox, has anyone tried to contact the OP of the incorrect article and sent them links to more accurate information so they have the opportunity to correct the errors in their listing?
Thanks for 'listening' ... My 2 cents, adjusted for inflation

after all, are we not 'teachers' by posting our experiences to this board?

I guess we are a bit taken back because history is not being taught like it used to be. There are mistakes and then there are gross errors. The most basic research would have resulted in a better description. I will give you credit for suggesting someone contact them about corrections. The person buying this car may end up being a new friend of ours and we would not want them to buy the car thinking such incorrect information was true. Like you said not everyone is as well versed on the marque.

Sure glad I'm color blind, (red/green deficiency), I might consider it having a hideous paint scheme. I'm not too fond with the colors I'm seeing.
