I've been looking at installing a pair of splash pans in the motor compartment and looking at the for pictures...

Does anyone have or can link to some pictures of how these puppies look installed? I am specifically looking at how they attach outboard of the motor (frame rails?)

Yes, they get attached to the frame rails with 3 bolts....and to the engine in 2 spots using the pan bolts.

And they look so spiffy, they're the finishing touch to a Model A engine room & they're most functional in directing proper engine room air flow. Shortly installing black powder coated ones on Vermin, my Avatar car. Bill W.

I like them... are the ones Mac's sells better quality and a better fit worth the extra cost?

I tend to stay away from Mac's and now deal mainly with Snyder's,Bratton's and Bert's. JMO

I imagine they all sell the same parts. Not likely more than one person reproducing them. It is worth spending the extra to get the powder coated pans. Leaking gas from the carb will eat regular paint off.

There are at least two makers of the pans. Most have the incorrect oval frame holes, but the one from Howell's has the round holes, so I bought from Howell's. That was a mistake, as they look like they were cut using a pair of dull tin snips.

Years ago I bought a pair from Bratton's and they were much better than the set I got from Howell's.

Why don't the makers put the correct holes in the pans and roll the bead in the front lip? Two easy things to make them much more correct.

I've got a set that I got from Snyders. I'll put them on when (& if) I get the engine back in. They are the powder coated ones, made by Brookville.

mounting nuts on the bottom of the frame
cant go wrong with the powder coated shields
