engine rebuild
I have been looking to have my engine rebuilt I have looked through all the links for engine restoration on this forum their are a lot of places that can do this work. Can someone recommend who they have used and if you were happy with the work. I would also like to find someone who is local to Ct or the east coast that I could use.

Re: engine rebuild
From what read in these forums the last 5 years I would stick with someone that "specialized" in Model A engines. I don't think that a rebuilder that has "rebuilt a few Model A engines" will do you justice. There are 3 or 4 around the country that I would trust (see above).
The top quality restoration shops know who to use. |

Re: engine rebuild
On the East coast I have used two Schwalms Babbitted Bearings, in Strasburg, PA and Antique Engine Engine in Skokie, IL. Both do excellent work.

Re: engine rebuild
Hi Neill,
If you are on the east coast, and if you want to stay close to Connecticut, I would recommend J&M Machine in Southboro, Massachusetts in addition to the fine shops recommended above. John and Mike would be glad to meet with you and show you around as well as to discuss your project with you. You can check them out on their website (google it). |

Re: engine rebuild
I have used J&M Machine in Southboro, MA to have three of my model A engine's done going back to over 20 years ago, with the latest one done about eight yeas ago. I have been very pleased with their workmanship and attention to detail. They offer a full service rebuild and will communicate with you along the way with detailed photos and emails.

Hi Neillb, I used Connecticut Antique Engine Restoration in North Franklin,CT. George King 860-642-7103. He is a little pricey but gives you a great rebuild.
