Default Found my oil leak in my 27 Roadster

It would only leak when the oil was hot. It was the starter bendex cover. It had a pin hole in it. I had a frend come in and watch to see where it was leaking. My eyes are not that good any more. I ffixed it today drove to Snyder's this morning and got some parts. Took the wife to the Dutch House for lunch then we came home. It a two hour drive to Snyder's. I am happy now that the darn leak is fixed. Trying to get ready for the Ohio Jamboree. This will be the first tour for the Roadster. That leak was driving me crazy.

Is there any scrapes on the inside of the bendix cover? Like something rubbed?

Good point Doug as some of the repro Bendix drive bolts have too thick of a head, resulting in them rubbing inside the cover.

I don't leave home without her.She my best buddy as well as my wife. Today I desided to adjust the bands and when I took off the cover on the tranny another surprise. the filter full of metal shavings. Not good? Now what. Mabe I better get the other T ready just in case. I clean the filter and change the oil. Will drive tomorrow to see how the filter is. The tranny is a new rebuilt but I don't know what to do as yet.I got 3 T's that run so which one?

You should have a magnet in that screen as well. I just adjusted my bands on a 100 mile old rebuild with a 1/4 teaspoon of crud on the screen and 1/4 TS stuff on the magnet. Not too bad for a rebuilt trans and new valves, lifters, rings and pistons. ws

I do have a magnet in the screen. It was full of metal shavings. Kinda scared me a bit.I am going to take it on the tour. It sounds great but with two hearings aids and can't see also teeth missing what do I know.

Shavings or black fuzz? If it's black oily fuzz, that's just the normal engine wear.

It was metal so today I will make a run of about 20 miles then check the filter. I change the oil and clean the magnet andfilter. I am going to get the 24 ready just in case for the tour.
