The engine in question that my friend Allen is trying to salvage is Mine.

To his credit he does not recommend modern rear main seal modifications and prefers the way Henry built them even if they drip a little.

The engine we got back was not the engine sent to the "builder" nor was it the original crankshaft. Neither he nor I requested a modified rear main seal but we got one.

Neither he nor I have as yet talked to the "builder" to help me correct this problem. There are seven other of our club's engines that may have the same quality or lack of quality of work done to them and a considerable amount of money is involved. Hopefully this will end without it turning ugly and aspersions being publicly cast about a builder's poor quality work.

The "builder' is a fellow Barn member and I hope he is reading the posts and steps up to help us solve this situation. If so it will all end quietly.

I will gladly keep the forum posted on the outcome to preserve a mans reputation if it is warranted.
