what size tires do you have on your F1 puck up
Time to make tire decisions.
My current front tires say 6.0 16. My rear tires say 6.5-16. What brand/size are you running? I think I like the look of whitewalls on the F1 It's a stock truck. |

Re: what size tires do you have on your F1 puck up
I'm running P205 75R 15's on the front with a 6 inch wide rims and P235 75R 15's on the rear with 8 inch wide rims. I originally had a set of white walls (same sizes) but when it came time to replace them, I didn't want to spend as much as the white walls cost...

Thanks Fibber, I liked the white walls but the black walls really accent the cream colored wheels, they are starting to grow on me… LOL

Re: what size tires do you have on your F1 puck up
I'm going to run a set of 6.00x16 tires on mine. That way I can get it in my 7 foot garage door. I was given a set of 4 new biased ply tires, so I'll try them first and see if they handle ok. If not, radials then.

Running the same sizes, 215-75-15 front and 235-75-15 on the pickup in the avatar. With 3:54s in the rear it's real happy at 65MPH.

Re: what size tires do you have on your F1 puck up
The 16" rims were an option, or was it the other way around... I've seen F-1's fitted both ways; it might have had something to do with transmission and rear ratio options.

Re: what size tires do you have on your F1 puck up
I think I like the look of the classic thin tire on the truck but I see lots of guys have installed modern tires. Is the ride that much better with the wider tires of today?

Re: what size tires do you have on your F1 puck up
Cooper Destination tubeless LT 215/85/16's on original 16 inch rims with the 4 1/2" bead for 2 years. I drive it like I stole it sometimes. Not saying it's the right thing to do, but I've had no problems at all so far (knock on wood). I highly recommend LT tires for better stability.
EDIT: To answer question above, I have run wider 15 inch tires as well. The ride is a little better, but it's not a huge difference. Last edited by Mountaindoc; 05-19-2012 at 09:38 AM. |

16x6.50 Firestone black walls on my 1948 F1. They have been on the truck for about 8 years without any problems. I have 15 inch white wall radials on my 53. They are Mercury wheels, borrowed from my father in law's 1939 Ford.
