Default adjusting a two tooth steering box

I rebuilt my steering box but I am having a hard time trying to adjust the sector. I understand the principle but it either binds in the center with little play in the pitman arm at either end of the turn or it feels fine in the center with a lot of play at either end of the turn. Can someone give me a better idea or approach on how to adjust this. I know this was discussed before but the archives are not working yet. Thanks Ken

It will have a lot of play at each end of the travel. Just try to get as close to NO PLAY in the absolute center WITH OUT BINDING and apx equal play at each end of the travel.

Let us know how you make out.

The Service Bulliens have one of the best write-ups for making the adjustments for the two tooth steering box.

You are right MAG, I still refer to the Bulletins if adjusting a 2 tooth sector.

There are 4 adjustments on a 2 tooth box.. Service bulletins do have the best write-up for this like the boys stated and a screwdriver can be 'warped' to get at the 4th adjustment if the box is in the vehicle..

Thanks for the advice Chris, I do not have the Service Bulletins book so I was refering to a Restorers article. I was trying to remove all the play at both ends of travel and that is what had me confused. Took another stab at it today and it went a lot better. Ken
