Are all years frames interchangable? Can you use a 30 frame with a 29 body or visa versa or maybe a 28 frame for a 31 body? I know there's a difference in the cross member where Rad mounts- but are there any other significant differences that one would have to take into consideration? Body bolt mounts all the same? Just a curiosity question

The answer is at Steves website:
Steve Plucker's research In a nutshell they are interchangable, BUT There are some differences and adjustments you need to handle different situations. Read Steve's research and then ask further questions. |

In short , and a direct answer is that you can use any year frame with any year and model body, however some changes must be made to the frame. The 28-29 frame's front x-member provides a taller mounting for the radiator. That front x-member was changed for 30-31 and has a lower mounting area for the radiator. Also different model body styles required different mounting brackets. So yes, by adding and changing x-members, and brackets, frames can be mis-matched. Will the car be "Judging Standards" correct ? No, but that may not matter to you. |
