Luke,
I think you are right, it is a motor, not an engine. The caption on the website says it is a V-12 engine. A motor relies on another source to make it run. Like an electric motor relies on electricity.

1)There are no spark plugs or ignition that I can see.

2)See the plastic tube, that could be compressed air.

3)Look at the camshaft gears. It looks like they are the same size as the gear on the crankshaft. Shouldn't they be twice the size for a four stroke engine? It looks like every downward stroke would be a power stroke and every up stroke is an exhaust stroke.

I could be wrong. Still pretty darn sophisticated and interesting. Thanks for sharing it with us.

that's an engine not a motor. i would assume it's running what is referred to as "glow fuel". its a methanol/nitro-methane/oil mixture and yes it's two stroke and i dont believe it requires a spark plug. it's what is used in tiny engines like in an RC plane.

As a Zephyr fan, I'm always glad to see a V-12 smaller than mine. But where's the oil leak behind the rear main?

"But where's the oil leak behind the rear main?"
I think he used the new Q-Tip mini-seal.

And who cares... "motor" or "engine" anyway. On my first car in 1958, a 36 Ford 5-window coupe, I rebuilt the "motor." Some guys put in a bigger "motor" and some guys just hopped up the "motor" that was there.
"Engines" were on a scooter or kart. Everybody knew that. Common usage for 50 years makes it as right as "engine" is proper. I'm a motorhead, not an enginehead.
