Default Re: 40 water pump bolt head broke off what now?

I'm with ya on staying away from the EZ outs. Not unless you have some carbide drill bits. Heat works or drill & retap it. Just make sure to use a punch center drill. Some times a left handed drill bit will work also. Iv pull many a broken bolts using a lefty. And another helpful hint is use a die grinder on the stub and cut yourself a flat surface to drill into this will make it a little EZer centering up up you punch and center drill. for a 1/4" bolt use a #7 or #8 bit. 5/16 bolt a 1/4" bit 3/8 bolt use a 5/16 bit. And when tapping out the hole use a good tap and use some type of cutting fluid and just take your time turning the tap back and forth. You don't want to hog it and break off the tap then your pretty much SOL.
Good luck and take your time.
