Group,
The Les Andrews book warns against using grease in the steering box. The user should use just 600 W oil. Anyone know why this could be a problem ? Regards, Marc |

Marc, the best answer I can give you is the 600W oil has a clinging agent added to it and will stay on the teeth where grease will squish out and cause metal to metal contact.

The 600 w steam engine oil stays on the gears as Jim says.
I plain 'O say 600 w oil is just too darn thick to flow past any seal. It's like leakless oil :-} skip. |
