Default 1930 rear lower body apron question

I am getting ready to install my lower rear body apron on my 1930 ford 4dr sedan and I was wondering should that get a fenderwelt or gastank size rubber beading between it and the body or does it just bolt directly to the body....Thanks in advance.....Dave

I have the same question on my '29 Murray Town Sedan. it would seem that there could be a welt otherwise its just metal on metal between the lower valance and the body.
Can anyone shed any light on what is correct?
Thanks in advance for any info.

"lower valance" that was the correct name I was searching for.Mine is a Murray also I would think the fenderwell beading might look to large and the gas tank bead would look better. If we dont get anyone who knows I might just see what looks best and go with it. Its not hard to switch out if i ever had to

The originals I've seen had a strip of friction tape type anti-squeak between the apron and the body. On the ends the fender welt continued to the bottom of the apron.

So I put the rear apron on yesterday and theres about 8 screws or so that hold it in. Thought I would give an update...Well I noticed that if you tighten the screws the gap increases where the body meets the apron because the would sits a tad lower then the sheet metal. So I'm adding a small washer as a spacer between the apron and the wood and a few extra screws underneath metal to metal. I ended up goung with the fenderwelt bead, in my opinion it looked really nice and didnt look to large as that is a very expansive area and it will match nicely with the rear fender welt....Thanks...Dave

I tried it with and without and it actually looks better with,it may not be origonal but it goes more with the flow of the car. "In my opinion that is".Allmost every seam has welting then all of a sudden that one doesnt strange. But we'll see its easily removable.

I have to say though I do things alittle different to add my touch to the car. For instance I have 2 ahooga horns on mine 1 on each side. It sort of evens it out.Looks great in my opinion but again its not origonal.
