Stop wondering, this that and the other . Do not use any method other than what is advised on this forum . Buy rent a proper wheel / hub puller and spring spreader . Do torque your drums to 200 , if you dont want to be doing it again .

Unfortunately, the timing of your excellent advise is dated, as the newer generation of Fordaphiles is beginning to dominate the forums as advise from the misinformed to the uninformed. No fault of their own, mind you, only that they proudly display graduate degrees from the University of AI.

All I can add is that in my misguided youth, my friends and I changed a lot of early Ford spring shackles with a jack and a large "C" clamp.

I would advise against it, especially when you can make a serviceable spring spreader from items available at any hardware store.

I tried that last year and things were going good until the clamp slipped off. If my head was in the way I would not be writing this today. Bought a spring spreader for the installation.
