Blucar has not been on the forum in almost a year and a half, so I am not sure you will get a response from him.

My suggestion would be to change to the 1940 clutch and brake pedal assembly that moves the clutch linkage outboard to free up the space for the column shift linkage to occupy that space. You would need to change the clutch release shaft in the transmission to be compatible with the 1940 parts.

I have some of the parts for this conversion but not a complete set.
