Any "go to" recommendations on a Starter rebuild? ALSO - "ASKING for a friend" can/anyone have an Alternator repaired??? Its for an 'obscure" vehicle, he had bought an extra NOS one and it was "stolen" SO now he's left with ONLY the "original" one that needs repair. Thanks in advance

Electric shops can test and rebuild alternators (i.e. bearings, dioodes, etc). Shops and some individuals do starer rebuilds/fixes. If buying a rebuilt, have an electric shop test it before installation - sometimes they are faulty over the counter,

What about user "ndnchf" on this forum? He seems to specialize in early Ford stuff and does them correctly. I don't know about the alternator. It sounds like it may be a special case as well.

If the obscure is domestic then repair parts will likely be available. If it's obscure foreign then good luck. Anything can be repaired if a person can source parts. Making parts can be a challenge.
