Thumbs up Model A Special Delivery

Kenny waited 62 years for this day.
A very special Ford Model A delivery
included a trip to drive him to breakfast,
then to MVD to get a new title and plates,
then to a local car show and giving
driving lessons to his caregiver so she
could take him out driving.

This family is remarkable. Kenny enlisted
underage to serve in WW2.
He was on an escort carrier when it was strafed
and bombed and sunk by Japanese kamikaze pilots.
He jumped ship before it sank and was rescued with
a few survivors by another navy vessel
that transferred him to an escort carrier
which also came under
Japanese kamikaze attack and was sunk.

Kenny survived and returned to Wichita, Kansas
where he settled as a milk delivery driver,
PTSD gave him excruciating headaches
and the cool floor of the dairy truck offered
temporary relief while his son Grant accompanied
him along his route and would
pick up and drop off dairy products
when Kenny was incapacitated.
