I am looking for a parts interchange information. What year ring and pinion will fit my 1040 ford rear end? Will all 39 to 44 years fit? I need 9/37 ratio.
Thanks Howard |

You have a 6 spline pinion so yes 39-48 . You want a 4.11 which is a 9 /37,correct ?

Well, I have a 10-spine pinion. I thought that was 39 or newer.

your 1940 should be a 6 spline, but they make a coupler to go from 6 to 10. To stay with your 10, you would need a 35-36 R&P, or put the original coupler back on the drive shaft for 6 spline 37 to 48.

Do you have a 1936 rear axle or a 1940 rear axle?
Also, are you sure you want another 4.11 ratio rear axle? You will probably prefer 3.78 ratio gears unless you live in very hilly or mountainous area, or never drive over 45 mph. |

4.11 gears would be good for an overdrive or mitchell, tho.
