Default NOS hub caps

Saw these being auctioned off in Maine. Any one in Maine want to pick them up and ship them? Of course I would have to be successful in winning them 1st.

NOS Hubcap appears to be correct for a 1936 Ford.
The lighting and angle is confusing.

The crispness of the grooves seems different to me. Are you positive it’s NOS and not a reproduction?

I have a set of NOS and they don't appear like those. If I were a betting man, I'd say repop.

You need to see the inside of the cap.
If the steel is stamped with the V-8, then original --- if not, pass............

Thanks for the replies. They put another pic of the box label and it was ford manufactured but for later model cars I believe. If I can get the box picture i will post.

If the box in the pic is the box they sent you a pic of, I can guarantee it is not from the 30’s. Ford would not pay extra money for white cardboard just to sit on the shelf in a warehouse.

You can sometimes see the difference in pictures between the reproduction 36-39 hubcaps and the original hubcaps.
Look at the picture posted in the beginning of this thread, the shiny center section and painted outer section are one single piece of metal with only paint at the transition. These are a one piece stamping with chrome plated center and painted outer. This is not an original Ford hubcap.
Look at the genuine 1936 hubcap picture posted by mercman, the shiny section is a stainless steel stamping that is snapped over the painted steel hubcap. You can see the edge of the stainless center above the painted section.

Alan.............you like me are not fast enough to snipe.

BUT, if you are thinking about being in the woods, after it is dark, then both of us can snipe with the best of them!!!
