Default 272 Crankcase ventilation filter

I have this filter element in the crankcase ventilation housing on the left side of the engine. In another thread someone said it needs to be replaced periodically with a Wix 59QKMD or equivalent. I googled that Wix number and came up with zero info or sources. Does anyone know where this filter can be obtained? Or can it be cleaned and reused?

So what is the benefit of changing it? I have replaced mine once, and it seemed like a waste of time.

If you keep the oil changed, use modern detergent oil, and drive some miles over 35 or so they don’t clog much. Don’t do that, or drive in cold and humid weather, they’ll be as full of sludge as the rest of the engine. And when they sludge up the engine gets worse faster. That’s where y blocks got the reputation for poor upper oiling. Lack of maintenance.
