Default 51 Ford 4dr seat

Is a 1948-52 F1 pickup front seat cushion the same as a 51 4dr Sedan front seat cushion?

My sedan seat needs rebuilding.

I sold my ‘51 fordor a couple years ago, and I still have a ‘52 F-1. Without being able to measure them, I would guess that the fordor seat is wider. I had to lean over quite far to roll down the passenger window in the ‘51, and the pickup window seems a lot closer. Sorry I don’t have good dimensions. If somebody has the fordor width, I can furnish the F-1 dimension.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a lead to a frame with springs from a 52 F1 but I don't want to tear things apart right away if they are not the same as the 51 4dr. I have enough unfinished projects already! I will have to do the measuring and if they are not the same maybe just the springs will work out for repairing my seat.

I just measured my ‘52 F-1 and the seat is nominally 51” wide. For grins, I measured my ‘53 Ranch Wagon front seat and it’s approximately 56” wide. I would guess that the ‘51 and ‘53 dimensions are similar.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks, that does help. I have a friend who has a 53 Tudor in his grove. Good chance it is still there. He got it from me so I hope I am still a friend....

The Bonus Built cabs still followed Ford's narrow design concept for commercial vehicles. The cars were generally always a bit wider for passenger comfort. Utilitarian commercials were pretty basic and didn't have a lot of room for extra passengers. I remember as a kid sitting in the middle of a 49 F1 and one of the brand X 216 powered 3100 post war Chevy pickups. Neither had much room but the column mounted shifter in the old Chevy made life a little easier.
