Use a #12 screw that fits the D-nut and cut to approximately 3/8 - 1/2 inch long. Insert the screw into a drill motor and spin while grinding one end to a sharp point. Then insert the screw with the point facing upward and when the floorboard is positioned correctly, push downward on the floorboard and the point will make a divot where the new hole is to be drilled.
Meaning I’m not going for stock awards, yet.
Very clever. I will employ that trick.

As I recall, Bonnie Parker (Bonnie and Clyde) was severely burned by battery acid from hip to ankle when she and Clyde were involved in a rollover accident. Not sure make or year of the car, but Clyde preferred Fords...

When replacing the floor boards I put threadstock in each clinch nut in the subframe. The top of the threadstock was ground to a sharp point. This located the hole to drill. Went one at a time.

Maybe he is referring to All Thread (threaded rod)? Similar to this; https://www.amazon.com/National-Hard...80&sr=8-5&th=1

Y-B, that's threaded 1/4-20. Wrong thread. You need threadstock in 12-24. If you try 1/4-20 it will go in a little way and then jam, bougering up the threads in the D-nuts. I did find this stuff on the river store https://www.amazon.com/Pieces-12-24x...57&sr=8-1&th=1 but that's a lot of stock for what you need it for. McMaster-Carr has it, pack of 10 @ 1" long https://www.mcmaster.com/95475A405/ or much cheaper to buy a 1 ft or 2 ft length.

Tom, for what shipping from the US would cost you might do better to find round stock in Germany (#12 is 5.556 mm diameter) and buy a 12-24 die, do it yourself.

That is why I said "similar". I didn't know the correct size thread, I was just using that as an example to explain what All Thread/Thread Stock looked like for TomInCologne... Geez, so picky!
