The recommendation to punch holes in the ADB baffle is based on older filter designs where that membrane could, in some cases, become stiff and impede the flow of oil into the filter. If your filter has a silicone membrane (usually red vs the older/cheaper black nitrile), there is no risk of this happening and no need to damage the ADB function by putting holes in it.
